Courageous…the continuing story
Aug 20th
I am convinced that there will always be another challenge around the corner for us.
Yesterday I was riding a Harley through beautiful countryside back to Kansas City as the sun was setting with friends. two things struck me (besides the occasional bugs!). I realized what joy it was to feel comfortable riding a bike that powerful and so enjoy my surroundings. It was like a whole new world had opened up to me. Then I remembered how terrified I was two years ago when I first got on a Harley and tried to navigate 435 at 70 with semi tractor trailers all around me! Read the rest of this entry »
Proud, as in, “feeling pretty…”

Some stories…
Miss Vonnie, one of our hall of fame teachers in the Children’s department, wasn’t walking down the hall a couple of Sundays ago. Your feet have to be touching the ground to call it walking. The smile on her face, the complete joy in her eyes told me a story was coming. Miss Vonnie loves the Lord. She loves kids almost as much. She has prayed for months that she would know just the right time to share the gospel with her kindergarten class. That morning she felt the Lord was saying “Now, Miss Vonnie” and five of our children gave their life to Jesus. Best decision they will ever make in their life. Thanks Miss Vonnie. Mike’s Perfect Storm
Feb 11th
When my brother was rushed to the hospital last week (the first week of February) we were all sure that he was dealing with some major health problem and that the medical teams that were there to assist him would find something as obvious as it was terrible. His situation was perilous and continues to be. He stopped breathing shortly after he arrived and we now soberly reflect on what we would be facing now if he had not been surrounded by such competent people. Read the rest of this entry »
Invictus: Giants in a Land of Small People
Dec 22nd
What if adults could become giants?
One of our daughters, working her way through elementary school, was disappointed with her height. Her doctor would simply shrug her shoulders and say “Some kids are taller than others”.
Then the day came, a few years later, when the doctor told her she was now at a stage in her life where she could influence her height based on what she chose to eat. What a transformation in my daughter’s disposition…she could be taller than she had expected! Read the rest of this entry »
Yikes and Yeah!
Nov 21st
Wow, what a season of life we are in as a congregation! Change is sometimes exhilarating and sometimes frightening…so it should be no surprise to any of us that there are times when we exclaim “Yeah!” and “Yikes!” almost at the same time! Let me share some highlights: Read the rest of this entry »
